The Organic Option For Optimum Health!
Organic foods are those that have been raised and processed without the use of additives, pesticides and synthetic fertilisers. Animals raised organically are not given antibiotics, growth and synthetic hormones or fed animal by-products.
The use of antibiotics in conventional meat production helps create antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. This makes the body less responsive to antibiotic treatment during periods of ill-health. Plus animal by-products are potential havens for carriers that spread disease such as BSE, aka mad cow disease.
The nature of a cow is to eat grass and not grain. The feed given to factory raised cows is filled with chemicals and sometimes contain fillers such as cardboard, cement dust and animal carcass to stretch it and make it cheaper.

Scientist who genetically alter or modify plants to grow faster, taste better and be more resistant to disease may have created a monster that will reap havoc on your health!
Food that has been genetically modified can transfer genetic material into the DNA of bacteria in the intestinal tract leading to a myriad of health problems.
The American Academy of Environmental Medicine warned against the use and consumption of GMO’s stating, “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food.” These health risks include: infertility, decreased immunity, antibiotic resistant bacteria, and poor insulin regulation.

Organic foods are the real deal and are simply beautiful in their pure and natural state.
Non-organic or conventional food is guaranteed full of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides, they are used to kill insects and are highly toxic. You may think the levels of these pesticides are so small they are unlikely to cause damage to your body. Or you may have enough confidence in Government agencies to look after your well-being and properly regulate such poisons. If that is your view, you may want to think again.
Chemicals in food are found in trace amounts but even very low levels can adversely affect your health. They remain in the colon causing it to become toxic and slowly poison your body over an extended period of time. Furthermore there is growing concern in the scientific community about the harmful effect of pesticides on foetuses and children. Let’s face it, Government agencies are more concerned about protecting the large corporation’s tax dollar than to worry itself over the state of your health.
From an ecological perspective, organic farming is kinder and much safer for the environment. Organic farmers rotate their crop which improves the condition of the soil. Non-organic farmers use chemical fertilisers and pesticides that deplete the soil and is harmful to wildlife, waterways and flora.
Also animals are traditionally raised on factory farms around the globe and contribute highly to global warming.
The cost of it all? Enormous amount of fossil fuel to manufacture pesticides to power the machinery for irrigation plus the amount of fuel needed to transport the animal from the farm to its final stop, your dinner plate.
These animals are part of the Concentrated Animal Foodlot Operation (CAFO) and are a major source of methane emission around the world so contribute largely to the world’s carbon footprint.
So what is the answer?

Going organic has huge benefits to your health. Primarily organic food has much higher levels of nutrients than non-organic food, and there’s no chemical after taste either!
To support this fact, a 2007 study at Newcastle University U.K reported that organic produce contained up to 40 per cent higher levels of some nutrients than non-organic produce.
These nutrients include Vitamin C, zinc and iron. Agriculture and Food Chemistry found that organically grown berries and corn contained 58 per cent more poly phenols, the antioxidant linked to disease prevention.
They also found higher levels of Vitamin C up to 52 per cent than non-organic produce.
Alyson Mitchell PhD an associated Professor of Food Science and Technology at the University of California explained why organic techniques may sometimes yield superior produce. “It’s a difference in soil fertility, says Mitchell: With organic methods, the nitrogen present in composted soil is released slowly and therefore plants grow at a normal rate, with their nutrients in balance. Vegetables fertilized with conventional fertilizers grow very rapidly and allocate less energy to develop nutrients”.

The FST is the largest running side by side comparison of organic and conventional farming systems in the U.S:
“We looked at the major and minor nutrients of oat leaves and seeds, grown after 22 years of differentiation under conventional and organic systems,” says Paul Hepperly, research and training manager at the Institute.
“The organic matter in the conventional system did not change over the 22 years, but we got about a one per cent increase in organic matter over the baseline every year in the organic system. We found a direct correlation between the increase of organic matter and the amount of individual minerals in the oat leaves and seeds. The increase in minerals ranged from about seven per cent for potassium, up to 74 per cent for boron. On average, it was between 20 and 25 per cent for all the elements we looked at, and we looked at nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, calcium,magnesium, sulfur, iron, manganese, copper, boron, and zinc.”
He went on to say: “This showed how dramatic the soil change had been and its effect on the nutrient content of the plant. We’ve done these tests not only on oats but also on wheat, corn, soybean, tomatoes, peppers, and carrots, and we consistently find that the organic heritage improves soil and improves the mineral content of the food products.”
