Thought and The Power of the Mind
Have you ever experienced a situation where you are thinking about a particular friend and all of a sudden, out of the blue, you get a call from that person? Your immediate response is ‘wow, I was just thinking about you!’
Or what about a time when you felt unhappy and stuck in a mundane job and your thoughts turn to the perfect job you have always dreamed of. You think about it more and more and whilst skimming the daily newspaper on your morning commute to work, right there in the left top hand corner on page 19, you see an advert of your perfect job! You think wow what an amazing coincidence.
Convinced that the job was made just for you, you apply then manage to fight off 207 other applicants and succeed in securing the job of your dreams. Wow! all because you just happened to stumble upon an advert in your daily newspaper, one morning on your way to work!
What creates situations of this nature ?
Is there a relationship between what you think and what becomes your reality?
Why do some people succeed in different areas of their life while others seem to always end up with the short straw?
Is life anything more than a series of chance coincidences on a pre-destined road?
Or is life crafted from your very own creation where destiny is self-determined?
At Sharing Self-Improvement we believe that your life is the outward expression of your thoughts and that by understanding and cultivating the Power of Your Mind, you do indeed create the reality of your life.

The mind is comprised of three parts which we will call:
- The Conscious Mind
- The Subconscious Mind
- The Superconscious Mind
Think about the mind as a metaphysical super power which connects you to the boundless energy of the Universe. It is much like the millions of electricity generation points on the electrical grid delivering energy to your home.
There is no distinction between your individual mind and the universal mind in the same way that the individual electricity points operate by linking into a much greater and essential system that generates power.
Put another way, the microcosm of your mind is intrinsically linked or interconnected to the macrocosm of the Universal Mind.
If these are new concepts to you, do keep reading to get a fuller and deeper understanding. As you become familiar with new ideas and terminology, we hope your will integrate them fully in to your life in a practical way. With this in mind, let us look further at the different parts of the mind.
The Conscious Mind
The part of the mind that interacts with life through the five senses, sight, sound, smell, touch and taste. Your perception of the world is experienced through the use of the senses. However the Conscious Mind by its very nature is limited because of the relationship it has with your physical being. It can only perceive and operate at the finite level of the senses.
The Conscious Mind allows you to see nature in all its glory. Jump on the 7.44 fast train to get to work on time for 9.00 am (or not!)
Wave hello to your neighbour on a brisk spring morning. Jump up in horror when your alarm failed to wake you up for that all important interview.
You experience and enjoy so much of life through your senses and days would be quite dull in the absence of the Conscious Mind.
The Subconscious Mind
Think of this part of the mind as a canvas or movie screen on which the images or impressions from the Conscious Mind are projected.
Essentially the Subconscious Mind responds to the thoughts and desires created from the Conscious Mind.
These two have an intrinsic relationship and work well to actualise your desires but also your limitations.
If the movie of your mind is full of dark and angry enemies, hell bent on overthrowing the universe before returning to Galactica, you are largely projecting that image onto the movie screen of your Subconscious Mind.
The Subconscious Mind stores the impressions you create similar to the function of the memory. You may see this in action when your thoughts drift off for example, on a usual car journey to work. You reach your destination totally oblivious to the activities taking place on route. Your Subconscious Mind has stored the impression of your journey and as though on auto-pilot, you got to work pre-occupied with thoughts from your Conscious Mind.
The Subconscious Mind re-creates in collaboration with the Conscious Mind according to what it receives.
The Superconscious Mind
The part of the mind which exists beyond our physical being. It is aligned with the super conscious mind of the universe that extends beyond our space time continuum.
Carrying on from the earlier analogy of an electricity grid, the Superconscious Mind represents the electricity that runs through everything.
It is indestructible and infinite in its nature. It is the inter-connective fabric that holds the blueprint of your current life and is the means to a deeper understanding or awareness of your life’s purpose. It is all knowing, all present and all powerful, in other words it is Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent.
Through the Superconscious Mind we align with the same energy that runs through the cockroach and simultaneously creates the colossal solar system orbiting the sun. Herein lies the realm of infinite possibilities because it is not bound by physical or worldly limitations.
