My Coaching Program
I am a Holistic Health, Fitness and Wellness Coach
I work with people who feel stuck, who want to make changes or achieve big results such as losing weight, getting healthy or improving their self-esteem but are struggling to make it happen. I help them to identifying blocks and create an action plan to clarify and prioritize their focus so that they can make the changes or achieve the results they want.
Welcome to my Coaching Program, on this page I’ll give you some insight as to what to expect from me as your Life Coach.
I set goals but why can’t I keep to them?
You are not alone!
According to a study carried out by Dr. Gail Matthews a psychology professor at Dominican University in California 60% of people abandon their goals within 6 months. Even after a heart attack only 14% of patients make any lasting changes around eating and exercise.
Only 3% of those who lost weight on a diet kept if off. 95% regained more than their original weight.
Why is it so difficult to set goals, stick to them and make real and permanent chances in your life?
There are several factors but here are a few to consider:
- The goal itself is unrealistic
- Fear of failure
- Past failures
- Time constraints
- Lack of motivation
- Lack of discipline
- No real commitment or pay off
- Peer pressure
- Comfort zone
- Lack of support
Most of you at some time or another have made attempts to change. Whether it is an effort towards a New Year’s resolution or a life style change to improve your mental or physical condition.
A lot of people fail to make permanent change because they do not understand the stages, process or application of change.
There is a psychotherapeutic process that when applied at the right time and in the correct order, can dramatically increase the chances of you making a desirable behavioural change.
What my Coaching Program Delivers
My Coaching Program in part, is based on the extensive research carried out by James O. Prochaska, Ph.D., John C. Norcross, Ph.D. and Carlo C. Diclemente, Ph.D. Authors of the book “Changing for Good”.
I use their ‘Stage Coaching for Change’ model which determined that successful, permanent change requires progression through six steps or stages in the correct order.
It also requires the application of nine psychotherapeutic processes in line with these stages.
As your Life Coach I will work with you to identify where you are on the continuum of change and help to create steps in line with a particular process.
So if you are struggling to lose 151bs or more for example, I will help you create a healthy diet plan and work towards a slimmer and healthier you. Holding you accountable is a major factor in the accomplishment of your goals.
The 6 Stages of Change
You can think of this as the ‘When’ you make change.
1. Pre-Contemplation Stage
Are you resisting change? Perhaps you are responding to past failures. Without help, you are likely to stay stuck in this stage as your life and even your health deteriorates.
In this stage, it is not that you can’t see the solution, it’s that you can’t see the problem!
Research demonstrates that problems can be more effectively treated early, before they become more severe.
If you are given the right tools at the right time, you can progress towards change.
2. Contemplation Stage
Are you thinking about solving your problem? Maybe the prospect of a better life gets you excited? If there is no further progression, you become a chronic contemplator and never move in to action.
In this stage, you can clearly see your destination but you’re not quite ready to make the change.
However as you transition to the next stage, you begin focusing on the solution more than the problem and more about the future than the past. Does this sound like you?
3. Preparation Stage
You are warming up for change and planning to take action.
Most people who set goals either skip this stage or do not spend enough time here. It is such a fundamental part of the process and necessary for successful and permanent change.
Without the necessary groundwork, the temptation to return to the undesired behaviour is very strong.
During our Life Coaching session, I will help you carry out a thorough evaluation and develop a firm detailed plan to ensure your progression from a solid, strong foundation.
4. Action Stage
Now that you are fully grounded – It Is Time To Move!
You have made a firm commitment to purposefully modify your life and alter your behaviour.
I will support you to take small manageable steps in line with the most appropriate process of change. By capitalizing on your strengths and in concert with your values, we will work consistently towards change.
5. Maintenance Stage
You have worked hard to get here but this is not where it ends.
During maintenance you take specific steps to create and maintain a healthier lifestyle. It can be the most difficult stage but will prevent a lapse or relapse in to old habits.
You will learn new coping methods to replace undesirable patterns of behaviour and temptations to return to your comfort zone.
During our sessions we will work with strategies to re-affirm your commitment and resolve.

You life is defined by four criteria:
- New self-image consistent with a healthier life-style.
- No temptation in any situation.
- Solid self-efficacy – genuine confidence and able to function without the problem.
- Permanent adoption of a healthier lifestyle.
The process of change is not immediate but making a commitment and sticking to my program will ensure the results you want.
Now let’s look briefly at the:
9 Psycho-Therapeutic Stages of Change
You can think of this as the ‘How’ you make change.
Once I identify where you are on the continuum of stage, I can begin to create baby steps reflective of each particular process and determine at which stage these would prove most useful.
1. Conscious Raising
I will work to raise your awareness and increase your knowledge base.
2. Social Liberation
What resources are available in your external environment to assist change?
3. Emotional Arousal
What will your life look like when you have made the change?
4. Self-Re -evaluation
Looking at your life and self-image in relation to your problem.
You accept your responsibility to change once a firm commitment is made.
Rewards are more powerful than punishment and consequences and reinforce positive change.
Finding techniques that work for you in substituting a healthy behaviour for an unhealthy behaviour.
8. Environmental Control
An action-oriented process which supports you to modify your environment to minimize the temptations of a particular behaviour.
9. Helping Relationships
Identifying a non-judgmental presence in support of your positive and healthy lifestyle change.
Helping relationships which are understanding and accepting.
More about my Coaching Program
My goal is to create the space for you to flourish.
Our initial 30 minute consultation (the intake session) will allow me get a full understanding of who you are, what is important to you and set up goals within the parameters of your personalized coaching program. This of course is always carried out in accordance with honouring your values.
I use various tools to identify you Character Strengths so you can work with your strengths throughout the sessions and along with your values, create your life map.
Living in alignment with your values and drawing on your Character Strengths creates a fulfilling and meaningful life. When your life is fulfilled you experience more joy, loving relationships and utilize your own natural gifts and talents.
My role as your Life Coach has been successfully concluded when you reach this state of being.
Being part of a group is a powerful catalyst for change because you become accountable to others in that group.
